After a brief hiatus, the MVP Power Rankings have made their return! This column is even more subjective than the regular Power Rankings, giving voters the freedom to define both “power” and “most valuable” in their own unique ways.
First up on our list is Lionel Messi of Inter Miami CF. Although he is currently not receiving any votes, we just have to mention him – not only for Messi’s sake, but also because there is still a chance he could make a comeback in these rankings.
Chicho, on the other hand, is still very much in the discussion thanks to his incredible start to the year. At one point, he was putting up numbers that had us questioning whether he could challenge Carlos Vela’s record for single-season goal contributions (49). Additionally, there was a period where he was directly involved in an astonishing 95% of RSL’s goals.
However, a few missed games and a slight dip in performance have now left Chicho tied for second in the league with 28 goal contributions. Despite this, he is still holding onto second place in the Golden Boot presented by Audi race with 17 goals.
It’s clear that the MVP Power Rankings are as unpredictable as ever, with players rising and falling in the rankings based on their performances week in and week out. Who will emerge as the ultimate MVP by the end of the season? Only time will tell.
